Yin is a slow-paced style of yoga in which the postures are designed to be held for a minimum of three minutes so that the release goes beyond the muscle and helps to bring pliability to fascia and connective tissues. During this class, I will be offering hands on energy healing, known as Reiki. This is deeply relaxing, healing and supportive for every level of your being.

Gentle Yoga & Myofascial Release with Christie Spring
In this unique gentle yoga class series, you will be invited to drop into a relaxing and mindful practice with slow, intentional movement appropriate for all levels, including beginners. Each class will be a guide into experiencing and cultivating an informed awareness of the body’s “fascial networks,” which orchestrate our living and dynamic movements in both obvious and subtle ways.
Fascia is the very “fabric” of our physical form- it’s the connective tissue that surrounds and interpenetrates everything in the body, from tissues of organs, muscles, bones, ligaments, and tendons, to the exquisite level of our cells into DNA itself. Despite their key role in well-being, our fascial networks are often culprits of chronic tension in the body through contraction as we age, and can therefore compromise optimal movement patterns. Working directly with our fascial tissues through a guided gentle yoga practice while incorporating myofascial release techniques can encourage the cells of this connective tissue to reorganize in a skillful and health-promoting way.
Participants will be provided props throughout this series, including tennis balls which can serve as wonderful myofascial release tools when used in an informed and safe way. Prepare to receive a deeper-felt understanding of the limitless role of our ubiquitous fascia as a neuro-sensory web throughout the entire body from which informed, embodied, and enlightened movement can continually unfold.
